Overview
Advanced twin-engine performance for the Airbus H145
The Safran Arriel 2E is one of the latest members of the renowned Arriel engine family, developed specifically for the Airbus H145 helicopter. Certified in December 2012 and entering service in 2014, the Arriel 2E delivers increased power, advanced digital engine management and exceptional reliability for today's demanding helicopter operations.
Compared with the previous Arriel 1E2, the Arriel 2E provides 20% more power, enabling improved payload capability, enhanced one-engine-inoperative (OEI) performance and greater operational flexibility. Its dual-channel Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) system reduces pilot workload while automatically optimising engine performance throughout every phase of flight.
As part of the world's best-selling helicopter engine family, the Arriel 2E benefits from more than 66 million flight hours, over 15,500 engines produced and installations across 40+ helicopter types. Every day, Arriel-powered helicopters perform EMS, search and rescue, law enforcement, offshore and utility missions around the globe.
Engine performance and reliability
Increased power
The Arriel 2E delivers 894 shp maximum take-off power, 828 shp maximum continuous power and 1,072 shp One Engine Inoperative (OEI) power. This combination provides outstanding performance for demanding missions while maintaining excellent operational efficiency.
Low operating costs
The engine incorporates a titanium axial and centrifugal compressor, a robust reduction gearbox and Safran's proven modular architecture. Together with an optimised maintenance programme, these technologies maximise reliability while reducing maintenance costs and aircraft downtime.
Dual-channel FADEC
Equipped with a modern dual-channel Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) system, the Arriel 2E automatically manages engine performance, reduces pilot workload and enhances operational safety. Additional features include automatic power checks, surge protection and flame-out protection.
Outstanding capability
Designed for worldwide operations, the Arriel 2E performs in temperatures ranging from -45°C to +50°C and at altitudes up to 7,000 metres (23,000 ft). Its large operating envelope makes it ideally suited for demanding civil, parapublic and military missions.
